The foundations of a healthy denture are built from the first years of a person’s life, a fact that unfortunately many parents are unaware of, at least according to the statistics in our country.

Despite awareness campaigns about the importance of good oral hygiene for children (paedodontics), surveys show that four out of five children do not brush their teeth daily, and four out of five teenagers have at least three decayed teeth by the age of 15.

These children will have to make many visits to the dentist and undergo treatments in adulthood, which they could have avoided if they had started taking care of their teeth early on.

When should the child visit the pediatric dentist for the first time?

The earlier the child visits the pediatric dentist, the better, even if the child does not have any problems with his or her teeth.

The pediatric dentist will check the condition of the denture, recommend ways to prevent caries, as well as any future orthodontic abnormalities that may cause some bad habits.

Also, because at very young ages the problems are small, the visit to the dentist is usually limited to a typical clinical check-up, so the child becomes familiar with the doctor. At Smile Expert our goal is to make children’s visit to the pediatric dentist as pleasant as possible. That is why we approach them with great care and sensitivity. What we are interested in is to make our young patients and their parents understand how important oral health is and how to maintain it.

Which treatments are aimed at children?

At Smile Expert we successfully treat all cases of acute root fractures after an injury, the prolonged stay of a deciduous tooth or the obstruction of dissection of a permanent tooth. Also, in some cases we proceed to preventive fillings with composite resin (Sealants) to prevent the appearance of caries and fluoridation to increase the strength of the teeth.

And because, as we all know, the best treatment is prevention, we “educate” children – and of course their parents – so that they acquire good eating habits and brush their teeth in a way that keeps them in perfect condition.
